Pub and bar search
Find somewhere good for a pint.
Independents and free houses ranked first. Chain pubs are listed too, below them and never badged, because hiding them would empty the page.
This page searches pubs and bars only. Restaurants and cafes won’t appear here even if they’d fit. Ask on the main search for those.

What this page does
- What can I search for on this page?
- Pubs and bars, which we treat as one page because our own listings do: the category on a Highstreett record is Pub/Bar, so splitting them would be a distinction the data cannot answer to. Ask for what is in the glass or what the room is like, and the search reads both.
- How does ranking treat chains?
- Pubs are the one category where we do not leave the chains out. Most pubs on a British high street belong to an estate or a brewery, so hiding every one of them would empty this page rather than curate it. A chain pub is listed here, ranked below the independents and never carrying a verified badge, so you can see what it is and decide for yourself. Turn on Shop Local if you only want independents.
- What does the verified badge mean?
- A verified badge means we have checked who owns that business, against Companies House and the PSC register, and confirmed it is independently owned. It is the only positive claim we make. No badge is not the opposite claim: in a search result it can mean we have not checked that place yet, or that it came off the map rather than our own directory. Places we have not verified are labelled as map finds so you can tell which is which.
Every one we list, by city
Search answers a described need. These list the lot, so you can look through them yourself.
