This ranking is built from real book searches on Highstreett, not editorial picks. It is compiled as follows:
- Each title is counted by distinct conversation, so one person searching repeatedly cannot inflate a book.
- A book appears only once it has been recommended in at least 3 distinct conversations.
- Every title is ISBN-verified against Open Library and Google Books before it can be recommended at all, so invented or misattributed books never enter the count.
- Books surfaced only because a reader already owns them (shelf-owned picks) are excluded.
