How to use Highstreett for halal and kosher food
Save halal or kosher once and every search respects it. Highstreett only calls a place halal or kosher when a certifier or the place itself says so.
Save it once
Sign in and open your preferences. Under religious requirements, pick Halal or Kosher. You can also pick No pork, No beef, No alcohol or Jain, or type your own.
Religious requirements are treated as hard filters, so you don't have to repeat them in every search.
Ask in plain words
Type what you want the way you'd say it: “halal food open late near Lincoln station” or “somewhere for a family meal, halal”.
The search only says a place is halal or kosher when that place's own listing says so. If it can't confirm it, it tells you, and suggests you check with the place.
Read the label on the listing
A listing page says “The venue says its food is halal” or “Not confirmed”, with the date we checked. We never decide a place is halal from its cuisine, its name or who owns it.
Use the city guides
Our halal guides only list places a certifier lists or that say so themselves, each with the date we checked. Start from the halal or kosher page for every guide we publish.
Check on the day
Look for the certificate or licence, and ask if you're not sure. Halal and kosher pages explain what to look for.
What it won't do
- No guessing.Cuisine, a name or an owner's background never makes a place halal or kosher on Highstreett.
- No kosher-style as kosher.A deli or a menu with no pork isn't kosher without a licence.
- No paid labels. No business can pay to be labelled halal or kosher, or to move up a search.
Questions
How do I make Highstreett show only halal places?
Sign in, open your preferences and pick Halal under religious requirements. It's a hard filter on every search. Then search as normal.
Will Highstreett tell me a place is halal when it isn't sure?
No. It only says a place is halal when that place's own listing says so. Otherwise it says it couldn't confirm it.
Where are the halal and kosher guides?
On the halal and kosher pages. Today there are 3 halal guides, for Hackney, London and Lincoln, and no kosher guides yet.
