Hair and beauty search
Find someone good with your hair.
Independent salons and barbers come ahead when it’s close. Places we have not verified appear too, labelled as map finds so you can tell which is which.
This page searches hair salons, barbers, nail and beauty salons and wellness places like massage and spas. Restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops won’t appear here even if they’d fit. It is a new category for us and we are still building the listings, so a search may come back with only a place or two. Ask on the main search for anything else.
Ask in your own words, or start with one of these.

What this page does
- What can I search for on this page?
- Hair salons, barbers, nail and beauty salons, and wellness places like massage and spas. Ask for the appointment you actually want: a dry cut, a colour that will grow out well, a gel manicure, a sports massage. This page is locked to those kinds of place in code, so restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops will not appear here even when they would fit. It is also a new category for us, so we are still building the listings out and a search can come back with only a place or two. A short set is the honest answer rather than one padded with places that do not do the thing you asked for.
- How does ranking treat chains?
- Independents come ahead when it's close, and the margin is deliberately small: a genuinely better chain can still out-rank a weaker independent, because pretending otherwise would make the ranking useless. The national salon, barber and beauty groups are a separate case and are not listed at all. On this page that means brands like Toni and Guy, Supercuts, Regis, Rush Hair, Headmasters, Nails Inc and the beauty counters in Boots and Superdrug. Everything else that turns up is listed and labelled by who owns it. If you want none of the chains, the Shop Local toggle hides them; places we haven't checked yet stay, labelled as unchecked.
- What does the verified badge mean?
- A verified badge means we have checked who owns that business, against Companies House and the PSC register, and confirmed it is independently owned. It is the only positive claim we make. No badge is not the opposite claim: in a search result it can mean we have not checked that place yet, or that it came off the map rather than our own directory. Places we have not verified are labelled as map finds so you can tell which is which.
