Lincoln guide

Gyms, climbing walls and sports clubs in Lincoln that aren't a chain, and who runs each one

Most of the gyms you pass in Lincoln belong to national chains: PureGym has a 24-hour gym in the St Marks Centre, for example, and Everlast Gyms has a Lincoln branch. This page covers the other options: gyms run by the person whose name is on the company, a climbing wall whose profits go to a local charity, and clubs owned by their members.

It is a collection, not a ranking. We have not trained at them all. For each place we name who runs it, taken from Companies House, the Charity Commission number the operator publishes, or the club’s own site.

Independent gyms

Small gyms with one site and a named owner.

  • Lincoln Lifting, Strength gym6 Crofton Close, LN3 4NT. A powerlifting and weightlifting gym with 24-hour access. Its own site offers £7.50 day passes, which give you an access code by email, and a free 12-week beginner programme. LINCOLN LIFTING LTD, company 15048429, was incorporated in August 2023 with Joseph Paul Feeney as its sole director.
  • Kin3tic Performance, PT gym14 Turnstone Road, North Hykeham, LN6 3UA. A gym built around personal training, with a 4,000 sq ft floor. It caps memberships so the floor doesn’t get crowded and a trainer is always free. It also offers one-to-one and small group training, studio cycling and sports massage. KIN3TIC PERFORMANCE LIMITED, company 10585672, has had Jason Carl Lingard as its director since it was formed in January 2017.
  • Performance Gym & Fitness, GymListed at 6 Pioneer Way, LN6 3DH. Its own site describes it as family run and names Laurie Carr as owner, with a team of five personal trainers and two sports therapists. It also has an in-house supplement shop and sunbeds. We did not match it to a company with confidence, so no company number is given.

Climbing

  • The Showroom Climbing Centre, Climbing wallTritton Road, LN6 7QY. It calls itself the largest indoor climbing wall in Lincolnshire, with over 100 routes and auto belays, so you can climb roped without a partner. It is run by YMCA Lincolnshire, registered charity 243017, which says the centre’s profits go to its local charitable work. Check the hours before you go: it opens Monday to Wednesday 4pm to 9pm, Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm, and is closed on Thursday and Friday.

Sports clubs and combat sports

  • The Eastgate Club, Tennis, squash and bowlsLangworthgate, in the cathedral quarter. A members’ club that says it has been on this site for over 120 years, with eight hard tennis courts you can play on all year, two indoor squash courts and an outdoor bowls green. It is members only, and membership for each season opens on 1 May.
  • Lincoln Fight Factory, Kickboxing, boxing and MMAUnit 3, Vulcan Park, George Street, LN5 8LG. A purpose-built gym for kickboxing, boxing and MMA, with classes for children and adults. Its site names its coaches but not a company, so no owner is given here.

Bouldering: Freeklime

Freeklime, on the Sunningdale Trading Estate (Unit 13, LN6 7UB), is Lincoln’s bouldering gym. It isn’t in the list above because it is a small group, not a one-off: its own site lists gyms in Huddersfield and York as well as Lincoln, and membership covers all three. It opens 10am to 10pm on weekdays and 10am to 8pm at weekends. Adult day entry is £10.50 and monthly membership is £32 with no minimum contract. Freeklime Lincoln has its own page in the directory.

How this was checked

Each entry was checked on 16 September 2026 against the venue’s own website. Directors and company numbers come from each company’s Companies House page. The Showroom’s charity number is the one YMCA Lincolnshire publishes. Where we could not match a business to a company with confidence, the entry says so rather than naming anyone.

Primal Life Gym on Dixon Close is not listed because it closed on 31 October 2025. Ascend Climbing Gym, once Lincoln’s dedicated bouldering gym, has also announced its closure.
