Where students live in Lincoln, and what is near each area

Ten areas, each with how long it actually takes to walk to the Brayford Pool campus and to the High Street, and the independent shops our own directory holds within 800 metres. The walking times are routed on the pedestrian network rather than guessed from a straight line, so the number for Monks Road is the number for going round the Arboretum rather than through it. Nobody walked these with a stopwatch, and the page never says otherwise.

Areas and their streets are sourced one at a time, mostly from City of Lincoln Council. walking times from OpenStreetMap pedestrian routing, checked 5 September 2026. Distances to shops are straight line from each area’s anchor postcode, which is a postcode centroid and so is accurate to about the length of a terrace.

What this page does not tell you

It names no landlord and no letting agent, and it says nothing about any building except where it is. It does not rank areas by safety, because we have no source for that worth publishing. And the shop lists are bounded by our own data rather than by what is there: we hold coordinates for 48 of the published Lincoln directory. The rest of the directory is real and is missing from these lists, which is a fact about us, not about the streets.

The walking times are to two fixed points: the Brayford Pool campus at LN6 7TS, and the High Street at Cornhill, LN5 7HB. A different door on either will move the number by a minute or two.
