Halal butchers and grocers in Lincoln
Where to buy halal meat, and the four names that are gone
Updated
Two Lincoln shops say on their own pages that they sell halal meat: Rayan Stores on the High Street and the butcher counter at Asia Supermarket on St Mark Street. Neither names a certifier. Five halal butchers have been named across the sources we checked for Lincoln, and Rayan Stores is the only one of them still open. Two more were real shops, trading until recently, and are now confirmed closed. The last two are named on a real primary source, Lincoln Central Mosque’s own halal-shops page, but other businesses now trade at both addresses. That is the honest shape of a small market checked properly, and it is stated plainly below rather than buried in a caveat.
The other butchers we list in Lincoln are on the butchers page, which makes no halal claim for any of them.
Open: Rayan Stores
115a High Street, Lincoln LN5 7PR. Independent. Not on the mosque’s three-shop list, found independently. On the Food Standards Agency register as Rayan Stores, 115a–115b High Street, rated 5, inspected 17 February 2025. Its Facebook page, “Rayan food store in lincoln,” describes halal meat, Indian spices, African groceries, naan bread, sweets and chicken roast. The company first registered at this address, Rayan Stores Ltd, was dissolved in November 2023. A newer company, Barakah Rayan Ltd, is registered at 115a High Street and filed its annual confirmation statement on 25 September 2026.

Rayan Stores makes no certification claim, and none was found for it. We swept the Halal Monitoring Committee register directly on 8 September 2026, and again on 18 October 2026, and it lists no outlet anywhere in Lincolnshire; the Halal Food Authority publishes no public list, so that check could not be made either way. What is named above is a shop that sells halal meat and groceries, not a certified premises.
Open: Asia Supermarket’s butcher counter
Asia Supermarket, Unit 3, The Junxion, St Mark Street, Lincoln LN5 7BA, near the university. Its own site says its “Halal meat and poultry are cut to order every day” and offers fresh halal chicken, lamb, beef and mutton from its butcher counter. It names no certifier, so this is the shop’s own statement, not a certified premises. It opens seven days a week, 8am to 10pm, by its own site. On the Food Standards Agency register as Asia Supermarket Food2go, 24 St Mark Street, rated 3, inspected 17 September 2025.

Confirmed closed since we first checked
Both real, both trading until recently, both now confirmed permanently closed on Google, checked directly rather than inferred from an old listing. Named here as a citation, not a directory entry: neither will get a Highstreett page.
Spice Merchant Food Store. Last known address 26 Gresham Street, Lincoln LN1 1PZ. Confirmed closed via Google, checked 8 September 2026.
Elbaraka Halal Butcher. Last known address 390 High Street, Lincoln LN5 7SS. Confirmed closed via Google, checked 8 September 2026.
Re-checked 18 October 2026 on the food hygiene register: there is no food business at 26 Gresham Street, and 390 High Street is a vape shop, as it has been since January 2024.
An earlier pass in this batch matched both against Google Places by name and address only, which scored as clean on both and did not itself check whether either was still trading. That match was not wrong about the address; it simply never asked the question that mattered. The closure finding above, from a direct check on Google, is what this page now states as current.
The butchers and greengrocers in our directory
We also checked every butcher and greengrocer we list in Lincoln for a halal statement of its own. There are three, and none of them says halal anywhere we read. That is a fact about what each shop publishes, not a claim about what it sells: a counter that sells halal may never have written it down online, so ask in the shop.
- Foster’s Butchers: its own website (fostersbutchers.co.uk, About us page) carries no halal statement. Its Facebook page was not read.
- Pepperdines: its own listing on the Cornhill Quarter site (cornhillquarter.co.uk) carries no halal statement. Its Facebook page was not read.
- Fresh From The Fields, a greengrocer: its own website (freshfromthefields.co.uk, About page) carries no halal statement.
Sources: each shop’s own site or listing, as named above. Checked 7 September 2026. Re-checked 18 October 2026: all three are still on the food hygiene register; Fresh From The Fields’ site still says nothing about halal; Foster’s site would not load and Pepperdines has no site of its own, so their entries stand as read in September.
Reviews, maps and halal directory sites were used only to find a shop’s own pages, never as evidence either way. If you run one of these shops and what you sell is halal, say so on your own site and tell us, and we will add it here with its source.
What this page does not do
It does not list two shops named by the mosque’s own halal-shops page, and says why rather than leaving them off silently. Diamond Food Butcher, named by the mosque at 64 High Street LN5 8AH: on 18 October 2026 the food hygiene register’s record for that address is a takeaway, Kimbap/Bite After Bite, awaiting its first inspection, and no Companies House record of any “Diamond” company at that address was found. Super Lincs Halal Butchery, named by the mosque at 380 High Street LN5 7SF, was a real, registered business at that address, and it dissolved in 2019. On 18 October 2026 the address is Top Mini Market on the register, rated 5 and inspected 29 October 2025. The mosque’s page, last updated in April 2024, still lists both, and all three shops it names are gone from their addresses. We would rather say that plainly than publish any of them as trading on the strength of a listing alone.
If you run a shop in Lincoln that sells halal meat, or know one we have missed, tell us and we will check it properly.
