Lincoln guide

African food in Lincoln, from dinner to the weekly shop

This guide separates places to eat from places to shop. Cecilia’s is the sit-down choice, Amala Palace is built around Nigerian takeaway and delivery, and Little Africa Foods and Rayan Stores are useful for cooking ingredients. All four are on Lincoln’s High Street, but they do different jobs.

Places to eat

  • Cecilia’s, Restaurant320A High Street. A sit-down restaurant whose own site centres African cooking and West African stews, including bitterleaf stew. It also hosts music and DJ events, so check the programme if you want a quieter meal.
  • Amala Palace, Restaurant440 High Street. A Nigerian takeaway for collection and delivery, with Nigerian soups, rice dishes and sides on its own ordering menu.

African and international grocers

  • Little Africa Foods, Shop429 High Street. A specialist stop for African cooking ingredients and pantry staples. There is no dependable live stock list, so check before travelling for one particular item.
  • Rayan Stores, Shop115A High Street. The University of Lincoln’s grocery guide identifies African foods, fruit and vegetables and a butchery counter here. Treat that as a guide to the range, not a guarantee of today’s stock.

Which one fits the trip?

Choose Cecilia’s for a meal out and Amala Palace for food at home. Use Little Africa Foods for a specialist ingredient run, or Rayan Stores when the list also includes fresh produce and mixed international groceries.

How this was checked

We checked each business’s own current website or ordering page where one exists, then used current local sources for shops without a dependable website. We did not infer a cuisine from a business name or from reviews.

Highstreett intends its directory for locally and privately owned businesses, with no national chains, franchises or private-equity owners. Only businesses confirmed against Companies House and the PSC register carry a verified badge. No badge makes no claim either way. Details checked 8 September 2026.
