Lincoln guide

Polish shops in Lincoln, and the Eastern European shops that stock the same shelves

Lincoln has two shops that are Polish by name and by the Lincolnshire Polish Society’s own list: Lajkonik, behind 382 High Street, and Zabka on Portland Street. Super Lincs, the big international supermarket on the High Street, is where Polish food is easiest to find in quantity, and Milana Shop and Plovdiv stock Baltic and Bulgarian food. Poziomka on Monks Road, the Polish shop some listings still show, has closed.

Polish shops

  • Lajkonik, ShopRear of 382 High Street, LN5 7SF. On the Lincolnshire Polish Society’s list of shops with Polish products. It publishes nothing we could read beyond a Facebook page, so check what’s in stock before a special trip. Food hygiene rating 5, inspected 29 August 2025.
  • Zabka, Shop111 Portland Street, LN5 7LG. A Polish shop by the Polish Society’s list and the Polish press, and not part of Poland’s Żabka chain. The city council revoked its premises licence in February 2021, and we couldn’t confirm whether it holds one now, so don’t count on buying alcohol there. Food hygiene rating 5, inspected 21 January 2026.

Eastern European and international shops

  • Super Lincs, Supermarket116 High Street, LN5 7PR. Its own site calls it an international and Eastern European supermarket, with a bakery baking bread and cakes every day and a deli counter of meats, sausages and cheeses. In 2022 Lincolnshire Live reported Polish food as its biggest section. Food hygiene rating 5, inspected 7 October 2024.
  • Milana Shop, Shop441–442 High Street, LN5 8HZ. A European food shop by its own Facebook page; Google also lists the same premises as Baltic Food. Food hygiene rating 5, inspected 1 October 2025.
  • Plovdiv, Shop76 High Street, LN5 8AA. A Bulgarian food shop, listed on Google as Bg shop Lincoln, which posts its deliveries in Bulgarian. Food hygiene rating 4, inspected 18 July 2025.

If you would rather someone else cooked

  • Bistro Polonia, Restaurant457 High Street, LN5 8JA. A Polish restaurant and takeaway, by its own site. Food hygiene rating 5, inspected 21 October 2025.

Closed, or not found trading

Poziomka, the Polish shop at 166a Monks Road, has closed: Google marks it permanently closed, and the unit now trades as Monks Road Food and Wine. Older lists also name Krakowiak on the High Street, PIM Polish Market on Monks Road and International Foods on Portland Street. We couldn’t find any of them trading, so none is listed above.

How this was checked

Every shop was checked on 10 September 2026 against the Food Standards Agency register and its current status on Google, and its Polish or Eastern European range against its own website where it has one, the Lincolnshire Polish Society’s list of shops with Polish products (an archived 2023 copy, as the society’s site has gone) and local press. Most of these shops publish only on Facebook, which we couldn’t read, so opening hours and exact stock aren’t given: check before you go.
