Student discounts in Lincoln, including the ones you have to ask for

Fieldwork draft: this article is not ready to publish. The public-source pass is complete, but the in-person checks below have not happened. Do not turn a listing in a voucher directory into a claim that a venue honoured a discount at the till.
The best student discounts in Lincoln are not always on UNiDAYS. Some local venues advertise a percentage online. Others appear in the Lincoln Student Discount Book without publishing the exact terms. A third group will apply a reduction when you ask and show valid student ID, but never put it on a menu.
This guide will separate those three things. Every final entry needs a date, the exact offer, the ID accepted, exclusions and whether staff volunteered the discount or only applied it after being asked.
What the public-source pass found
The University of Lincoln’s current UniHelp guide points students to UNiDAYS, Student Beans and TOTUM. That is useful for national brands, but it does not answer the local question.
The current Lincoln Student Discount Book names local businesses across food, drink and activities, including Lincoln Bagel Company, Coffee Aroma, Bar Unico, Akedo, Urban Putters, Gridline Racing, Escape Lincoln and Virtually Golf. Its public index does not show the exact saving or the conditions for most entries. Those names are leads for fieldwork, not confirmed offers.
Older University of Lincoln articles mention a 10 percent student discount at Coffee Depot and student savings at other venues. Those articles date from 2022. They are excluded from the final list unless the venue confirms the offer again in 2026.

The question to ask
Use one neutral sentence at the till: "Do you have a student discount if I show my university ID?"
If the answer is yes, record the percentage or fixed price, the days and times it applies, whether food, drink or packages are excluded, which student ID is accepted, and whether it can be combined with another offer. Do not ask staff to bend a rule or create a discount that does not exist.
What counts as confirmed
An offer can move into the published list when one of these is true:
- The venue publishes the current terms on a surface it controls, and the page records the source and date.
- A member of the Highstreett team asks in person, staff confirm the exact terms, and the page records the venue and date.
A logo in a voucher directory is enough to justify asking. It is not enough to publish a percentage. A social post with no year is not current evidence. A student saying they received a discount once is a lead, not a policy.
Useful savings that are not local-business discounts
Students can also check UNiDAYS, Student Beans and TOTUM before a national purchase. Full-time students may qualify for a council tax disregard or exemption depending on who lives in the property, which is a different scheme and should be checked through the City of Lincoln Council. Neither belongs in a list that claims to uncover local till discounts, but both can matter more to a monthly budget than ten percent off a coffee.
Publication gate
Do not publish this page until at least five local offers have a dated in-person result, at least two of those were only revealed after asking, and every percentage or price has an exclusion note. Venues that say no should be kept in the research log but not framed as doing anything wrong.
Public sources last checked 9 September 2026. In-person checks outstanding.
