Alex, founder of Highstreett
Alex founded Highstreett and chooses the books on its reading recommendations. Highstreett is a personalised search engine for places and books. Describe what you want in plain English and, once you're signed in, it remembers your taste, your saved dietary needs, allergies and religious requirements, and what you've liked before.
How the reading lists are made
Most lists start from a Highstreett book search. The search is shown on the page as it was run: the request, the books it returned in the order it returned them, the date, and a link to the result. Under it, a short verdict says what the search got right and what it missed.
Alex then chooses the final list. It is built from the search, not copied from it: some books the search found make the list, some don’t, and books it missed can be added. Where a page was not built from a Highstreett search, its byline says so.
Each page says how its books were checked, with links to the editions and sources it used. AI tools help with the research and the drafting; the choice of books is Alex’s.
Why a search, and then a person
Showing the search beside the choice lets you see where the two differ, and why. You can run the same kind of search yourself on Highstreett book search, and how book search works explains what it does.
