Halal butchers and grocers in Lincoln: one open, four that were not what they looked like
Five halal butchers have been named across the sources we checked for Lincoln. One is currently open. Two could not be confirmed to exist at the address a real primary source, Lincoln Central Mosque’s own halal-shops page, gave for them. Two more were real shops, trading until recently, and are now confirmed closed. That is the honest shape of a small market checked properly, not a shortcoming of this page, and it is stated plainly below rather than buried in a caveat.
Open: Rayan Stores
115a High Street, Lincoln LN5 7PR. Independent. Not on the mosque’s three-shop list, found independently. On the Food Standards Agency register as Rayan Stores, rated 5, inspected 17 February 2025. Its Facebook page, “Rayan food store in lincoln,” is active and describes halal meat, Indian spices, African groceries, naan bread, sweets and chicken roast. The company originally registered at this address, Rayan Stores Ltd, was dissolved in November 2023, but the February 2025 inspection and the active Facebook page both show the shop itself still trading, most likely under a new operator.

Rayan Stores makes no certification claim, and none was found for it. We swept the Halal Monitoring Committee register directly on 8 September 2026 and it lists no outlet anywhere in Lincoln; the Halal Food Authority publishes no public list, so that check could not be made either way. What is named above is a shop that sells halal meat and groceries, not a certified premises.
Confirmed closed since we first checked
Both real, both trading until recently, both now confirmed permanently closed on Google, checked directly rather than inferred from an old listing. Named here as a citation, not a directory entry: neither will get a Highstreett page.
Spice Merchant Food Store. Last known address 26 Gresham Street, Lincoln LN1 1PZ. Confirmed closed via Google, checked 8 September 2026.
Elbaraka Halal Butcher. Last known address 390 High Street, Lincoln LN5 7SS. Confirmed closed via Google, checked 8 September 2026.
An earlier pass in this batch matched both against Google Places by name and address only, which scored as clean on both and did not itself check whether either was still trading. That match was not wrong about the address; it simply never asked the question that mattered. The closure finding above, from a direct check on Google, is what this page now states as current.
What this page does not do
It does not add Rayan Stores to our directory. It also does not list two shops named by the mosque’s own halal-shops page, and says why rather than leaving them off silently. Diamond Food Butcher, named by the mosque at 64 High Street LN5 8AH, could not be independently confirmed: a live Food Standards Agency search for that postcode returns a single result, and it is a different business at the same address, not a butcher. No Companies House record of any “Diamond” company at that address was found either. Super Lincs Halal Butchery, named by the mosque at 380 High Street LN5 7SF, was a real, registered business at that address, and it dissolved in 2019. The premises has changed hands since. Neither omission is a claim that the mosque is wrong to list them; its own page may simply be out of date, and we would rather say that plainly than publish either as currently trading on the strength of a listing alone.
